    Ingredients:
Prickly pear seed oil (Opuntia ficus indica) 85%
Extra virgin olive oil (Olea europaea) 15%
Prickly pear seed oil is one of the most expensive natural oils on the market, prized for its exceptional renewal, anti-ageing and healing abilities. It is obtained in small amounts from a large harvest for a short time of the year.
As its name suggests, the oil comes from the seeds in the fruit of the prickly pear cactus (Opuntia ficus indica). In the summer when the fruits are ripe, they are hand picked and washed ready for the seeds to be separated from the pulp. The seeds are washed of any remaining pulp, spread out and air–dried. At this point they are cold-pressed and the remaining oil is filtered from any seed residue.
The whole process is not only very labour intensive but also requires large volumes of the fruit to be processed for a small amount of oil. About 10% of the whole fruit is composed of seeds and up to one tonne of the fruit is required to obtain just one litre of the seed oil.
